Do’s and Don’ts before shoot

So, you have scheduled a boudoir photo shoot and, want to know what to do before the date arrives. I have a few handy tips that will make your photo session a huge success. As a boudoir photographer I notice the little things that most people over look or don’t think about. Things like red impressions on your skin from elastic waistbands, dry or overly tanned skin, dull teeth, stray hairs and the list goes on and on.

I’m going to give you a list of do’s and don’ts to make sure that you are at your very best for your boudoir photos.

Things to avoid~

~ Tanning is the one thing that you may think you need to do before you have photos taken. NOT a good idea ladies. If you tan in the sun you are left with tan lines. Unless you are an exhibitionist and tan in the nude, that is.  The natural sun dries out your skin and makes it look older than it really is. A healthy glow is all you really need. If you must lay out in the harsh rays of the sun, do so no closer than 2 days prior to your shoot. Your skin needs at least 2 days to recover from UV exposure.  Just be mindful of those tan lines, and be very careful not to burn. If you love tan lines…ignore this, lol!

Tanning in a bed at a salon may be relaxing but, it gives the skin an orange overtone. Even if you don’t seem to see that bronzing effect in the mirror… I promise you that the digital camera that I use will  pick it up. Self tanners are the worst for photography as they tend to streak no matter how diligent you are at applying it.

My advise…go to a professional salon that specializes in air brushing. The pros are trained to give your skin that perfect look without the orange tone and with no dreaded streaks.

~ Panic Dieting

Losing a few pounds or toning those soft areas is fine. Just make sure you do it in a healthy way so that you look your very best. There is nothing worse than trying to photograph a model that has no energy, no glow, and looks lifeless on camera due to crash dieting.

~Tight clothing or undergarments

The day of the shoot you simply must avoid wearing anything with elastic. You don’t want to have unsightly marks from panties, waistbands or even bras.

~ Being late to a photo-shoot

Please be on time to a photo-shoot ladies and gentlemen! As a photographer your time is just as important as mine! You will probably not be the only one I am shooting that day…so please be respectful of both our time and BE ON TIME!

Things that you should DO before you reveal that inner Sexi ~

~ Couple of days prior to your session you need to drink plenty of water. Well hydrated skin photographs beautifully and, has a glow like no other.

~ Get a manicure and pedicure. Your nails can make or break a photograph if they are not looking their best. At least make sure your regular nails are looking their best!

~ Moisturize you hair and skin.

~ Get a good nights sleep for at least two nights before you step in front of the camera.

~ Eat a small healthy meal just before your shoot.

~ BE ON TIME
